Facts

Gnärwähl is the follow up release to BRÜDER’s 2012 romp, It’s in the Blood. All 7 songs provide the kind of thumping, relentless energy the band has become known for, with the first half of Porcelain being the only the time Gnärwähl comes up for air. The stoner rock roots of the band still provide the backbone of the songwriting, but the songs have moments of sludge metal and hardcore music influence. Gnärwähl is a punishing, brutal effort.

The EP was recorded at Million Yen Studios in Chicago, where Minneapolis expat singer / guitarist Ryan Harding (Local H, Ghost Towns of the West) now resides. He joined Local H in late 2013, and has stayed extremely busy with a new record and their 25th anniversary touring; however, he is still committed to several Minneapolis based projects. Local H’s influence on Gnärwähl is most clearly heard on the penultimate track, Worm Burner.

Harding splits vocals with bassist Tucker Jensen and his distinctive howl-growl. Tom Busch (Chiefs of the North) provides the drums and guitarist Mike Mastel’s melodic, yet abrasive leads are notable throughout. The foursome’s songwriting process is organic with all members contributing to the final product.
